Production tour – Half day program

On your half-day-tour, you will have the opportunity to visit the SSBU production site and see how the high-quality scarves are developed. We will show you all the necessary steps required to produce a scarf by hand such as dying the yarn, spinning, weaving, fringe twisting and the final quality control.

With the help of the skilled women, you will also get hands on experience in spinning and weaving on a handloom. SSBU focuses on maintaining the traditional cultural heritage of Dhaka textile, which is a complex and time-consuming handcraft.

If you take your tour in the afternoon, after visiting the production centre, you will have the option to visit our ‘happy home’ shelter. Here you will have the opportunity to meet our rescued children. Most children have come from violent homes, abusive environments or directly from the streets. A lot of love and energy is invested by the WFN in the shelter home and our first priority is to create a place for the children to feel safe, receive food, medical support, legal aids, skills training and schooling. The shelter home is like a big family where everyone looks out for each other. The children will welcome you warmly with songs and dancing.
